Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) said its new small crossover MPV would make its global debut at the Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) next month.

"The class-leading model will combine the outstanding comfort and versatility of an MPV with the performance, strength and toughness of a Mitsubishi Motors SUV," the automaker claimed in a statement, adding the model would "come loaded with MMC technology and MMC SUV knowhow".

Sales begin in Indonesia in autumn 2017. Its body will be wider and larger than MPVs in its class. With a "fully optimised variable interior", the new model will bring class-topping living space for seven occupants to ride in comfort, MMC claimed.

"It also adapts quickly and cleverly to a wide array of cargo. It's distinctive advanced dynamic shield front, its large sculpted fenders front and rear, and its prominent ride height will be first sight proof of the serious SUV performance and toughness rightly expected from Mitsubishi Motors," the statement gushed.

The car will be produced at the automaker's new Indonesian factory in Bekasi Prefecture, West Java.

"This all-new crossover MPV was developed for emerging markets such as South East Asia – where MMC has a very strong presence," a spokesman told just-auto.

"Therefore, it will not be sold in Europe."
