Mitsubishi will offer a PHEV powertrain with its updated Eclipse Cross which has been confirmed for the US but is unlikely to be launched in Europe due to the automaker's recent announcement to UK and European distributors it plans to 'freeze' all new model launches from this year to help cut marketing costs.
The new Eclipse Cross is scheduled for release this fiscal year ending March 2021.
The refreshed model has new front and rear designs, "bringing forward a more upscale and energetic design to complement the sleek SUV styling".
The automaker's Outlander PHEV has sold 260,000 units and is claimed to be the world's best-selling PHEV.
The Eclipse Cross will be Mitsubishi's second PHEV.
