Key Safety Systems (KSS), says it has started production in a new carbon fibre trim factory at Valle Hermoso, Mexico.

The new operation specialises in producing carbon fibre exterior and interior components.

The company maintains the investment “serves as an improvement” to the business model where the value chain previously relied upon products imported from Italy.

KSS has already booked several programmes with multiple OEM’s that will serve as the start-up platform for the new factory, while the Mexican operation has been modelled after the company’s existing KSS Italia factory in Tregnago, Italy.

That factory currently supplies customers such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Maserati.

“The carbon trim capability and investment reflects our new level of commitment and presence to the North American market”, said KSS Specialty Products division, president, Tony Nordone.
