The current economic climate within Mexico will allow for modest growth within
the local new-auto market in 2001, but a cut in interest rates will provide
new vehicle sales with a major boost, reports Reforma/Infolatina (20/12/00)
citing Audi Corporate Director in Mexico Carlos Fernandez.
Quoting Mr Fernandez, the article says that Audi plans to end this year with
Mexican sales having increased to 2,400 units – a 30 per cent rise from 1999
– with the German auto-maker expecting to sell 3,000 vehicles in Mexico in 2001.
Audi is also expected to begin selling Porsche cars in Mexico, with customers
having already placed 30 formal orders for the sports-car, said Mr Fernandez.
