AKT has signed deals that will see it manufacture injected moulded automotive parts in Saltillo, Mexico.
The German supplier said it had signed a contract with The Offshore Group for the provision of outsourced manufacturing support, or ‘shelter’ services in Saltillo. It has also agreed to lease 34,822 sq ft of space at the group’s La Angostura industrial park.
AKT will eventually employ approximately 83 people directly.
Customer business unit director Roland Kluhspies said: “Our decision to establish an operation in Mexico was predicated on a desire to offer our customers a low cost North American solution. We have great faith in the productivity of the workforce located [at] Saltillo.”
