Japanese automaker Mazda Motor Corporation has reported a slight year-on-year increase in global passenger vehicle sales to 98,881 units in August 2026, after volumes fell by over 8% to 98,863 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales increased by 13% to 11,195 units, while overseas sales fell by 1.4% to 87,686 units.

The CX-5 was the brand’s best-selling model globally last month with 28,807 deliveries, followed by the CX-30 with 15,533 units and the Mazda 3 with 12,817 units.
In the first eight months of the year, the company’s global vehicle sales fell by 4.4% to 809,715 units from 847,224 units in the same period last year, with domestic sales falling by 3.2% to 100,535 units, while overseas sales were down by 4.6% to 709,180 units.
Sales in the US fell by 6% to 275,754 units year-to-date, and sales in China dropped by 4% to 41,889 units, while deliveries in Europe increased by 12.6% to 114,651 units. Sales in other markets combined dropped by 9.1% to 276,886 units.
Mazda’s global vehicle production rose by 6.9% to 796,645 units in the first eight months of the year, with output in Japan rising by almost 12% to 508,716 units, while overseas production fell by 1% to 287,929 units.
Exports from Japan rose by 12% year-on-year to 429,599 units year-to-date, with shipments to North America rising by 11% to 211,609 units, while exports to Europe surged by 22% to 92,269 units. Shipments to Oceania increased by 2.2% to 36,639 units, while exports to other markets combined rose by over 8% to 89,082 units.
