Remarks made by FCA chief Sergio Marchionne suggest that the Ferrari brand will join other premium sports car brands and launch a top-end SUV.

Bloomberg reported that Marchionne said Ferrari is 'serious' about adding an SUV.

Speaking to reporters at the New York Stock Exchange, he also reportedly said that there are considerations of exclusivity and 'scarcity of product' to take into account when widening the product portfolio and planning production volumes.

In the reported remarks he also appeared to dampen down speculation that FCA could sell its Jeep brand or do a deal with Great Wall.

He also appeared to reiterate interest in combining with another firm, but said that FCA hasn't had any suitable offers and therefore is focused on an independent strategy.

"It's incorrect to assume that FCA's future hinges on doing a deal," he reportedly said.
