This week’s British International Motor Show at the Excel centre in London’s Docklands will see 23 global launches and over 50 UK and European debuts as 60 brands display 600 cars, organisers said.
Key world debuts include GM Europe’s Vauxhall/Opel Insignia (replacing the Vectra), the first all-new Lotus in 13 years, Ford’s Focus RS – the fastest Focus ever and the 200mph (300km/h) Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, billed as the fastest saloon car in the world.
Alfa Romeo, Seat, Nissan, Land Rover, and electric car makers Think and Nice also plan to show new models or variants.
Attractions include and electric car ‘village’ and the ‘ultimate collection’ – a cluster of supercars with a combined value of over GBP5m.
This consumer-focused show also will see artists such as Blondie and Meatloaf who will perform at the ‘motor show music festival’, a ‘heritage enclosure’ and vessels cruising by on the Thames at the ‘marine experience’.
Honda also plans a spectacular outdoor arena show several times daily and Mazda will offer test drives in its various models (accompanied by professionals).
