Kia launched its redesigned Niro compact at a mobility show in Seoul.
It said the compact model had been completely redesigned based on its so called Opposites United design philosophy and would be sold with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-powered (EV) powertrains from next year.
Hybrid models have a drive mode which uses navigation and driving history data to switch automatically from hybrid to EV mode when entering designated ‘green’ zones such as such as residential areas and in the vicinity of schools and hospitals, the company said.
The new model has recycled interior trim materials. The headlining is made from recycled wallpaper while the seats are made from bio PU with tencel from eucalyptus leaves while BTX-free paint is used on the door panels.
