Jaguar Land Rover has invited its global supply network to commit to sustainability targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and help reach carbon net zero emissions across its supply chain, products, and operations by 2039.

JLR will ask Tier 1 suppliers to set out their decarbonisation programmes, report transparently and demonstrate progress towards targets. This would involve disclosing carbon reporting and collaborating with their supply chains to deliver the same reductions.

The supply network is 5,000 companies worldwide.

Barbara Bergmeier, JLR’s executive director of industrial operations, said in a statement: “Fulfilling our SBTi commitments and achieving carbon net zero emissions across our entire supply chain by 2039 are the driving forces in [our] industrial strategy. We can only meet these ambitious targets together, which is why we’re inviting suppliers to join us.”
