The month of May saw an increase in vehicle production, up 7.8% from last year, according to the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.

Registering their fourth straight month rise, manufacturers produced 753,374 vehicles in total, including 622,383 cars, an increase of 8.5%, 126,893 trucks, a rise of 4.5% and 4,098 buses, up 23.9%.

The first five months of the year (Jan-May) saw vehicle production up 4.2% from the same period last year, totalling 4,244,875 vehicles. Cars numbers reached 3,510,404, up 5.2%, truck numbers totalled 711,906, down 0.9%, and 22,565 buses, up 14.5%, were produced within this period.
