Toyota plans to further reduce production of large vehicles in the Untied States as their sales continue to slow.

Kyodo news reported that Toyota, which cut output at its auto-assembly factories in Texas and Indiana earlier this year, will terminate production for 14 days at the Texas plant by the end of October and six days at the Indiana plant by the end of August.

The operation of Toyota’s engine plant in Alabama will be suspended for five days by early August.

The Texas plant produces the Tundra pickup truck while the Indiana plant rolls out the Tundra and the Sequoia, a sport utility vehicle. The Alabama plant provides engines for the two models.

For the January-May period, Toyota’s US sales fell 4 percent from the previous year’s.
