Toyota group production in Japan and domestic sales dipped slightly last month though overseas output rose a little. Half year production at home, and exports and overseas production rose but domestic sales fell.
June production was off 0.4% to 445,740 units with Toyota brand output down 0.9% to 365,135. The group’s sales in Japan were flat at 188,445 with Toyota down 0.2% to 127,047.
Exports from Japan fell 8.5% to 221,534, the first fall in nine months, due to lower shipment mainly to North America, Europe and Africa, Toyota said, but overseas production was up 3% to 376,738 due to increases in Asia, Latin America and South Africa.
Global production in total last month was up 1% to 741,873 units.
Group production in Japan for the first half of 2008 rose 2.1% to 2.63m units with Toyota up 2.2% to 2.16m.
Domestic market sales were off 1.7% to 1.18m (Toyota down 2.2% to 808,052). Exports rose 3.6% to 1.47m (Toyota up 3.4% to 1.36m).
Overseas production was up 10.2% to 2.36m (Toyota, +9.3%, 2.3m) and worldwide output up 5.8% to 4.99m (+5.8% to 4.46 Toyota brand).
