The Japanese transport ministry will soon start a study on practical use of the
Smart Car, reports Japanese Automobile News.

The Smart Car is equipped with next-generation safety systems, developed by
the ministry and automakers, designed to transmit information about a variety
of road conditions from roadside computers to drivers.

The Japan Automobile Research Institute is now in charge of the study and driving
tests will be conducted by driving simulators and will also be carried out on
public roads.
