Nissan will launch five new car models in Mexico by early next year in an effort to maintain its share in the local market amid intensifying competition, Dow Jones Newswires reported, citing Kyodo News.
According to Kyodo, the new models will include the Murano and US-built Pathfinder Armada SUVs and Titan pick-up truck.
Dow Jones noted that Nissan has the second-largest market share in Mexico (22%) and is the only Japanese car maker in the top five manufacturers.
But Nissan foresees more intense competition because Toyota began selling cars in Mexico last year, Kyodo News reported.
According to the Dow Jones report, Nissan’s three-year business plan forsees expanding worldwide light vehicle sales by a million units by the end of fiscal 2004 from fiscal 2001 levels.
