Local assembly in Malaysia of Mitsubishi’s ASX crossover (aka RVR or Outlander Sport elsewhere) has commenced.
Tan Chong Motor Assemblies (TCMA) is building the model under contract to Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia. Sales start in February.

Morikazu Chokki, MMC’s senior executive officer, attended the line off ceremony today (21 January, 2014) and noted it was the first model to be assembled locally since MMM was established in January 2005.
The move is part of MMC’s New Stage 2016 mid-term business plan, starting in April, which includes more production in ASEAN countries.
MMC said its plans for Malaysia included more locally produced models.
