Mazda will soon withdraw from the luxury car market, Reuters reported, citing the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily.

The report cited the paper as sayin Mazda, one-third owned by Ford, will stop production of the Millenia by the end of this year and halt sales by the end of 2004.

The report added that move would concentrate Mazda’s resources on small and midsize passenger vehicles as well as sports cars, where the company has considerable strength and noted that only 1,300 units of the Millenia were sold last year.
