Mazda’s 3 (Axela in Japan) is now assembled in Thailand and Malaysia.

Distributors in Thailand [Mazda Sales (Thailand)] and Malaysia [Bermaz Motor] have both begun local assembly in their respective markets.

Thai build began at AutoAlliance (Thailand) on 28 February. The 3 will be sold as one of Mazda’s mainstay models in the Thai market alongside the also locally built BT-50 pickup truck and the 2.

IN Malaysia, Bermaz Motor began sales of the locally assembled 3 today (2 March). It’s built under contract by Inokom Corporation. Bermaz has sold imported Japanese-assembled units since June 2009 but the change to local production was made in response to expected sales growth.
