Japanese
automaker Honda is to install low emission engines in all its vehicles by 2005.
The car manufacturer will create low-emission ‘i-series’ engine production
lines at its two domestic engine sites and will invest 15 billion yen ($US128
million) in engine production by 2003.
Last year, Honda created a two-litre low-emission engine in an effort to boost
domestic sales and plans to develop this technology for its compact cars early
this year.
In December 2000 alone, Honda sold 13,000 Stream mini-van models, equipped
with the two-litre low emission i-VTEC engine capable of 20 percent greater
fuel-efficiency than Honda`s standard engines.
