Alfa Romeo will build 100 special-edition units of its 8C Competizione supercar to mark the brand’s centennial.

Called the 8C GTA, the car will debut on 24 June 2010, the 100th anniversary of Alfa’s founding in Milan, according to Automotive News Europe (ANE).

The 8C GTA will be lighter, more powerful and more expensive than the 8C Competizione coupe and convertible variants.

The letters GTA stand for Gran Turismo Alleggerita, which is Italian for a lighter grand tourer. The 8C Competizione coupe costs EUR162,550. The 8C Spider will go on sale next year priced between EUR212,000 and EUR213,000.

The 8C Competizione and Spider are powered by a Maserati 450hp, 4.7-litre V8 engine.
