Isuzu Astra Motor, an Indonesian joint venture between Japan’s Isuzu Motor, Astra International and PT PPI, announced it will begin operations at a new light and medium duty truck plant in Karawang, in West Java, in April 2015.

Isuzu Astra Motor, which changed its name from PT Panja Motor in 2008, said the plant had cost IDR1.7 trillion (US$131m) to set up.

President director Yohannes Nangoi said: “The new plant will help us keep up with local market demand.”

The plant will be able to produce 80,000 vehicles per year including the Isuzu Elf and Giga ranges.
