Tata Motors is reportedly in talks with a Mexican firm to have its cars assembled there.

Indian publication The Mint cited two unidentified people said to be familiar with the development.

The newspaper said that if the talks are successful , Mexico’s Metals SA de CV will make a number of models under a contract manufacturing arrangement.

This will enable Tata Motors to establish a presence there and a few other emerging markets, it said.

“A team from Tata Motors consisting of senior officials recently visited Mexico for the purpose,” the paper quoted one person as saying.
