Honda is thinking about launching a compact SUV in India and is conducting a study on market prospects.

Honda Cars India (HCIL) assistant vice president of the marketing Anita Sharma said, “We are in an advanced stage of a study on the compact SUV space and will take a call based on the study’s outcome. The compact SUV is a growing market.”

Meanwhile, the company aims to sell about 240,000 vehicles in the country in fiscal year 2015-16, ET Auto.com reported.

HCIL director and senior vice president of marketing and sales Hiroyuki Shimizu said, “This year, our export target out of India is 10,000 units. Also, we have plans to increase our Indian outlets from the existing 232 to 300.”

“Next year, we may facelift Accord and Civic models,” Shimizu said when asked about further launches in 2015.
