More than 15 vendors of Ford have moved to Sanand in Gujarat, investing around INR5bn (US$83m) and occupying over 130 acres of land in the Ford Vendor Park within Sanand GIDC estate, reports The Financial Express.

A senior state government official said, “About 15 vendors of Ford have come to Sanand investing close to INR5bn for their new units. This is the single largest movement of auto-ancillary units into Gujarat after vendors of Tata Motors moved from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand few years back.”

Of the 15, 13 have already taken up space inside the park. Getrag Transmission India has occupied 145,000sq m of land with an investment of INR1.59bn. Valeo India has taken up more than 60,700sq m, while Noble Automotive has acquired over 20,300sq m of space. Further, Caparo Engineering has occupied 39,900sq m, with Cosma International setting up base on 35,000sq m of land.

The Indian vendors that have taken up space in the Vendor Park include Indica Industries, Mahabal Metals and JBM Autosystem.

Meanwhile, vendors like Mitsubishi Steel Manufacturing have acquired space outside the park. Nirav Kothary, head of industrial real-estate of Jones Lang LaSalle said, “There are some Ford vendors who have acquired land outside the Ford Vendor Park at Sanand for the ease of doing business with other auto companies as well.”
