Sales of cars in India were up 1% in March over the same month last year, according to indsutry data, as measures taken by the government to stimulate demand continued to kick in. Sales of trucks and buses fell.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said 129,358 cars were sold during the month, up from 128,098 in March 2008.
However, the sales of trucks and buses fell dramatically to 41,881 units, a fall of 26%.
March marks the second month of growth for car sales after a four-month fall.
In February, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reported 115,386 cars sold, up 21.8% year on year.
