BMW has launched its updated, locally assembled X3 SUV in India, holding the event at Deutsche Motoren, its dealership in Noida.

The automaker now builds two xDrive (4WD) 20d diesel versions – both with eight-speed automatic transmission – at its factory in Chennai and sales started immediately after the launch.

With the update, it has introduced the xLine equipment package to India. The ‘base’ model is callled Expedition.

Leather upholstery is standard in India and five interior colour combinations are offered. Burled walnut or pearl chrome finishers are also available.

Both versions have ConnectedDrive with iDrive (driver information system), connectivity for Bluetooth and USB devices and the ‘professional’ radio. Park distance control (PDC) is also standard.

xLine equipment adds aluminium bumper inserts, unique grille and side window trim, aluminium exhausts, door sill finishers with BMW xLine badges, sport leather steering wheel, unique upholstery colours with X embossment, new interior trims, two new wheel designs and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels.
