
Hyundai Motor has reported a year-on-year (y-o-y) 2.3% decline in global sales for January 2025, with a total of 310,399 units sold.
Despite the overall drop, sales in North America have helped mitigate the impact of reduced production in South Korea, the South Korean auto giant said.
The company’s sales outside South Korea saw a marginal dip of 1.4% to 264,345 units in January.
In North America, Hyundai Motor America experienced a surge in demand, with US January retail sales reaching a record 54,503 units, marking a 15% increase from the previous year.
However, sales within South Korea fell by 7.5%, with only 46,054 units sold.
This decline was largely due to fewer business days in January, as operations were affected by the Lunar New Year holiday.

By GlobalDataHyundai’s SUV models and the Genesis luxury brand sold 14,836 units and 8,824 units respectively in the domestic market.
The company said it is planning to focus on improving its risk management and boosting its sales and production capabilities globally.
In a press statement, Hyundai Motor said: “The company is steadfast in solidifying its position as a top-tier brand trusted by global customers through the introduction of hybrid and EV models in the global market.”
For 2025, Hyundai Motor has set a goal to surpass 4.17 million units in global sales, including the Genesis brand.
Last month, Hyundai Motor Group formed a strategic partnership with Nvidia to advance AI technology for future mobility.
This collaboration will utilise Nvidia’s computing and AI software to manage the extensive data required for developing AI models.
Moreover, Hyundai Motor Group plans to implement Nvidia’s Omniverse platform for creating physical AI and digital twin simulations of its manufacturing facilities.
Hyundai also intends to use Nvidia’s Isaac platform for the development and deployment of AI robots.
