Hyundai Motor America has named Kyung Soo Lee as president and CEO effective today (18 September).

Lee will be responsible for Hyundai’s US sales and marketing, with Jerry Flannery returning to his position as the company’s EVP, chief legal and safety officer.

“Lee has an in-depth understanding of Hyundai Motor’s global operation, following nearly two decades in diverse markets around the world, including the US, Europe and Latin America,” said Hyundai president and CEO, Won-hee Lee.

“I would like to personally thank Jerry Flannery for his leadership and the stability he brought the organisation while serving as interim president and CEO.”

Lee started his career with Hyundai in 1982 and was most recently the president and CEO of Hyundai Translead, a manufacturer of dry and refrigerated van trailers, container chassis and converter dollies. He has also played roles in various positions in the US for more than ten years.

“I’m honoured and motivated to have been selected to lead Hyundai Motor America in one of the most interesting times in the automotive industry’s history and to reinvigorate momentum in the strategically important US market,” said Lee.

“We have significant opportunities ahead of us. I’m looking forward to supporting our employee and dealership base and launching new vehicles and technologies in the near future and beyond.”
