Hyundai Mobis is considering a restructure that would separate parts of its business into new and wholly owned units in an effort to enhance their efficiency.

Such a move has long been mooted and media reports suggest that plans are now advanced enough to go before the board in September.

Some reports suggest that Hyundai Mobis would be left with core businesses such as aftersales and R&D, but that subsidiaries will be responsible for OE production.

The auto industry’s supplier base is facing major challenges currently. Besides the immediate challenge of higher costs in raw materials and energy, longer term challenges include pivoting for advanced technologies while also improving sustainability performance.
