South Korean automotive equipment manufacturer Hyundai Mobis has said it has identified two local technology start-ups with which it wants to co-develop future automotive digital services.
The two companies, Genesis Lab and Linkflow, were chosen at the company’s recently held “M.Start” artificial intelligence-based (AI) image and voice recognition technology competition which attracted 155 participants.
Hyundai Mobis’ aim was to increase its access emerging, leading-edge technologies through this competition, as it looks to become a global leader in the provision of digital, AI-based services for connected cars.
Genesis Lab was chosen for its AI technology that changes interior lighting and music upon analysing driver emotions. Hyundai Mobis sees an opportunity to apply this technology to prevent drink-driving and drivers dozing off at the wheel.
Linkflow was chosen for its infotainment technology that allows passengers to watch videos and shop by using car windows as display screens.
Baek Kyung-kuk, senior vice president of Hyundai Mobis’ R&D planning, said his company aims to lead the automotive digital services market by increasing cooperation with up-and-coming local start-ups.
