Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) unveiled its end to end hydrogen solutions and roadmap at H2 MEET 2024, the country’s largest hydrogen industry exhibition being held this week in Seoul.
Under the “Be a First Mover in Hydrogen” slogan, HMG introduced its hydrogen business and technologies covering the entire hydrogen value chain developed under its the HTWO division. The exhibit builds on the company’s Hydrogen Vision presentation made at this year’s US Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

HMG’s exhibits at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Seoul this week show the company’s entire lineup of hydrogen applications and solutions, from ships, trams, forklifts, generators and heavy equipment based on its in-house hydrogen fuel cell systems.
One of the exhibits, called ‘Energy Security,’ introduces HMG’s “resource-cycle” hydrogen production technologies including W2H (Waste-to-Hydrogen) and P2H (Plastic-to-Hydrogen). W2H utilises organic waste such as food and sewage sludge to produce hydrogen, while P2H utilises non-recyclable plastic. The exhibition also showcases South Korea’s first operational W2H facility in Chungju which converts food waste into hydrogen and supplies hydrogen to nearby refueling stations.
HMG also displayed its “field-proven” hydrogen fuel cell system and its reverse electrolysis technology, PEM Electrolysis, which produces high-purity hydrogen. The exhibit also features South Korea’s first PEM electrolysis production facility in Buan, operated by HMG’s E&C division, alongside other business cases that run on the hydrogen.
HMG’s Port & Airport Decarbonisation exhibit shows hydrogen solutions that can be applied to high-carbon-emitting industrial complexes, including ports and airports. The company said it had successfully deployed a fleet of 30 Class 8 Xcient hydrogen fuel cell powered trucks since last year at the NorCal Zero Project in the port of Oakland in California.

By GlobalDataHMG also said it is committed to building hydrogen infrastructure at the Incheon International Airport, including expanding hydrogen refueling stations near the airport terminals and using hydrogen fuel cell powered trucks for logistics.
In a further exhibit, called Industrial Applications & Businesses, HMG displayed its commitment to transforming the current industrial logistics system into an eco-friendly system which mainly focuses on transitioning existing fossil fuel and diesel truck based logistics systems to hydrogen.
To achieve this HMG and its Hyundai Glovis logistics unit have a joint venture called HTWO Logistics. Starting with the HMG Metaplant America, an EV plant currently under construction in Georgia, US, HTWO Logistics will expand to other sites within the US and globally.
