Magyar Suzuki, Suzuki’s Hungarian unit, has offered employees at its plant in Esztergom two month’s pay if they voluntarily resign by December 18, according to local media reports.
Magyar Suzuki announced in late November it planned to end one of its three shifts and to lay off about one-fifth of its 5,523 workforce at the plant.
The plant will switch from three shifts to two shifts on December 19.
The Esztergom plant makes the Suzuki Swift the SX4, Spalsh, Fiat Sedici and the Opel/Vauxhall Agila models.
