BMW’s current German sales region chief Roland Krüger has been named president of Infiniti and SVP of parent company Nissan Motor.

He will be based at the company’s Hong Kong headquarters and report to Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan Motor.

“Roland Krüger has a consistent record of high performance in the premium automotive sector,” said Ghosn. “He brings unique leadership skills that will accelerate Infiniti’s progress in the global premium market.”

Krüger joined BMW in 1998 as a manager of strategic product planning. He has headed product and price planning for the Asia-Pacific, Africa and East Europe regions, as well as regional marketing for Asia-Pacific, Africa and East Europe, and was managing director of the BMW Group in Asia. In 2008 he was named president and CEO of BMW Group, Japan, and in 2013 was appointed to his most recent position.

Prior to joining BMW, Krüger entered the automotive industry in 1992 as an interiors and exteriors designer for Mitsubishi Motors Europe in Germany. He joined Daimler in 1994 as senior designer, Smart interiors, eventually becoming senior designer in the strategic planning group.
