The Volkswagen Group booked a 9.7% year on year rise in worldwide deliveries in the first three quarters of 2012, selling about 6.71m vehicles. September sales rose 6.5% to 801,000 units.
“Our worldwide deliveries grew further in September with a particularly strong performance in central and eastern Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region”, sales chief Christian Klingler said in a statement.
“However, the present uncertain situation in the eurozone and current overall market conditions require close monitoring and will be receiving our full attention in the fourth quarter as well.”
Group brands delivered 2.80m vehicles in Europein the first three quarters of the year, a rise of less than 1%. Western Europe sales, excluding Germany were off 6% to 1.43m; sales in Germany rose 3% to 889,900. Central and eastern Europe sales rose 23.1% to 480,000 with Russian volume up 50.1% to 234,900.
North American sales rose 25.4% to 608,600 of which 431,600 (+34.1%) were delivered in the US. South American sales rose 7.4% to 752,500.
Asia-Pacific region sales rose 18.2% to 2.27m vehicles; Chinese colume was up 18.5% to 2m.
