The German commercial vehicle market showed signs of stabilising in August after a long period of decline, according to the German vehicle makers’ association, the VDA.

August registrations of light trucks in Germany fell 5% over year-ago levels to stand at 14,740 units, while heavy-truck registrations declined 19% to 5,200 units, VDA said in a statement.

However, when the sales figures are adjusted for different numbers of working days, light truck registrations rose 2% and heavy trucks were roughly unchanged, VDA said.

The VDA also said that orders for new trucks also showed some signs of improvement in August, if seasonally adjusted.
