Mercedes-Benz sold 118,887 vehicles worldwide last month, an August record and has reached the 1m year to date sales mark one month earlier than last year.
Sales and marketing chief Ola Källenius said: “We continue to be on course to make 2014 another record year. The launch of the new C-Class sedan in China and the US will add further sales momentum. The new C-Class estate and the S-Class coupe, which we will launch in Europe in mid-September, will also contribute to additional growth.”
Mercedes-Benz delivered 45,661 vehicles in Europe last month, up 4.8%, achieving a market share of 9% in Germany where it still led the premium segment with 20,057 sales in August.
NAFTA also saw growth, up over 9% to 30,520 sales, posting an August record in the US with 27,078 vehicles.
Sales in Asia/Pacific totalled 37,591 vehicles, up 15.8%, with 21,398 vehicles sold in China, an increase of 18.3%, also setting a new sales record.
The brand reported high demand for the E-Class since the beginning of the year. Worldwide sales are up nearly 21% at 172,703 while E-Class coupe and convertible volumes have also risen.
