Mercedes-Benz had its best June ever last month with passenger car sales up 13% year on year to 113,300 units. First half sales were up 15% to 556,700 vehicles.
Rapid China growth helped boost the June tally as sales rose 177% to 13,700 units and and by 120% to 60,500 units in the first half. In the other BRIC countries – Brazil (73%), Russia (76%) and India (83%) also saw high double digit growth last month. In the Asia/Pacific region, sales in Japan climbed 27% last month, and by 15% in the first half of the year. In South Korea, Mercedes-Benz was able to more than double sales in June (174%) and also during the first half of the year. Since the beginning of 2010, the brand has also posted strong sales increases in Australia (22%) and in South Africa, (23%).
US sales rose 21% to 18,300 units in June and the H1 tally was up 22% to 103,700. Canadian first half volume was up 19%.
In western Europe excluding Germany H1 sales were up 7% to 152,300 units.
German sales fell 7% to 122,500 cars but market share rose.
