Mazda Motor Europe’s sales last month rose 5% year on year 25,200 units, the best October performance in over 15 years.
For the current calendar year, MME has sold 261,000 units, which is the second highest January through October volume in 15 years as well.
Sales were led by four record-setting markets, including Russia where the automaker had its best single-month for volume in history in October, selling 4,800 units, which was up 69% versus October 2006. The UK had its best October on record for volume, at 3,600 units, and for market share, estimated at 2%. Greece also had a record October with a sales total of 720 units, up 98%. In Spain, the brand recorded its best October market share, estimated to be 1%.
Several other markets achieved excellent sales results as well. In Finland (including all three Baltic countries), 630 units found owners, up 24%, and in Sweden, 540 units were sold, up 23%. Switzerland also had an outstanding October, selling 510 units, up 17%. Belgium and Luxembourg had its third consecutive month of double-digit growth, increasing sales by 20% last month, based on a volume of 360 units. Norway achieved strong growth as well, up about 9% with a volume of 280 units, and the Czech Republic and Slovakia were up by 48% year-on-year, based on a volume of 210 units. Ireland continued to do well in October as it has all year, selling 100 units, which was up 4%.
