Daimler plans to rehire hundreds of US truck employees it sacked during the financial crisis.

The company has to fill 540 positions at its truck assembly plants in Mt. Holly and Cleveland as well as at its components and logistics factory in Gastonia. The total staff of the three plants in North Carolina is 1,640.

Daimler needs more people as it plans to extend production in the USA. The company is currently enjoying high demand on the local market.

According to Martin Daum, head of Daimler Trucks North America, Daimler is currently the only producer in North America with growing production numbers.
