Will Wolfgang Bernard stay at Volkswagen or will he go?
The German Press Agency considers Bernhard’s departure from Volkswagen Group highly likely. He is currently head of the Volkswagen brand but new group CEO Martin Winterkorn is expected to present a possible new structure for the group to supervisory board members on Wednesday, ahead of a full board meeting on Thursday.
The relationship between Winterkorn and Bernhard appears to be ‘very cool’, according to the news agency. Bernhard is not at the North American automotive industry show in Detroit this week.
Bernhard was offered a position as head of production across the group but turned this down on the grounds that his contract is for the position of head of the Volkswagen brand until 2010.
