Kia claims the three new ‘Soul’ concept cars it will unveiled at the Geneva motor show next month “will reveal a whole new ‘fun’ side to the Korean brand”.
The Korean automaker said the trio “are closely related to a forthcoming production model which will defy classification and encourage customers to build an emotional bond with their new car”.
The concepts are said to highlight “the world of possibilities for accessories, customising and personalisation that will be opened to future customers by the new model with its special appeal to the young-at-heart – whatever their age.”
The Soul Burner (previewed here) is the so-called ‘bad boy’ of the trio complete with satin black finish and dragon tattoos.
US-based website The Car Connection (TCC) said the Soul trio were updates of a concept first displayed at the 2006 Detroit motor show and suggested Kia was planning to compete with Toyota’s successful youth-oriented Scion brand in the US. It said prototypes had been spotted at Kia-owned test tracks in Korea and added production-ready cars were likely to appear in the US later this year, possibly at the upcoming New York motor show.
