Product specifications, pricing, delivery schedules, network locations, and details on the first Canadian vehicles will be released as preparations for the launch progress.
Geely Auto currently sells vehicles in more than 100 countries and territories.
Its international engineering and design operations cover research and development, electrification, product development, and “next-generation” technologies.
Geely Auto Canada managing director Bryan Wu said: “Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth. We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely. We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here.”
The Canadian announcement follows Geely’s recent entry into Switzerland through a partnership with Emil Frey Group and distributor GZ Automobile.
The initial Swiss range includes the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid and the all-electric E5.
The compact E2 and a flagship SUV are due later this year. Operations began across 12 sales and service locations, backed by an 8-year or 200,000 km warranty.
Last month, Chinese EV maker NIO agreed to sell a 30% stake in its battery swapping and charging unit, NIO Power, to a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group.
The unnamed subsidiary will subscribe for newly issued NIO Power shares, in a deal valuing the unit at about 16bn yuan ($2.38bn) post-money.
In the same month, Geely and its partner Renault pledged a further 2bn reais ($388.7m) to their Brazilian joint venture, Renault Geely do Brasil, bringing total committed investment in the country to 5.8bn reais through 2027.
