Toyota will launch a minor update of its European Yaris line at the Frankfurt show next month. Sales have risen from about 144,000 units in 2011 to an expected 200,000-plus in 2015 while its share of the B segment is up from 4.1% to an anticipated 6.6%.

Toyota Motor Europe attributes much of the rise to the introduction of the hybrid variants in 2012. So far, 170,000 have been sold since its European launch at the end of June that year, a tally expected to rise to over 200,000 by the end of this year. The hybrid currently accounts for about 35% of European Yaris sales and this is expected to grow.

Toyota added its latest Safety Sense system to the Yaris model range in June 2015 and claims this places the model line at the top of its segment for active and passive safety. By the end of 2015, it expects one in three units will have the integrated safety technology.

A revised grade structure will be available throughout Europe from January 2016 along with new colours, trim and upholstery finishes across the model range.

The Style grade will now be available on the Hybrid and features a new, black-painted honeycomb grille with satin chrome ornament and front foglight surrounding.

The interior has new, all-black seat upholstery and new piano black inserts in the cabin.
