Ford said it was expanding its autonomous vehicle testing and claims to be the first automaker to test self driving vehicles in Washington, DC.

The company, which began testing self-driving vehicles in Florida's Miami-Dade County earlier this year, plans to continue developing the technology behind its autonomous vehicles in partnership with Argo AI and testing the customer experience through new business pilots.

Home to the White House and Capitol, the District of Columbia is one of the largest markets in the US with its population growing significantly during the workday. In addition to commuters, the US capital sees millions of visitors every year, hosts major conferences, hosts a popular food scene and there is high demand for ride-hailing and delivery services.
