Ford Europe sold 99,900 total vehicles in July, down 4.8% year over year, but year to date total sales of 845,300 were up 2.6% for the best first seven months of the year since 2009 in the traditional Euro 20 markets.

SUV sales were up 27.3% to 141,200 in the first seven months with July sales up 16.4% to 18,500.

Ford's top five markets in July by sales volume were: UK (25,000); Germany (24,000); Italy (11,800); Turkey (10,200) and Spain (8,100).

Some 72% of passenger vehicle sales were to retail and fleet customers in the top five European markets in both July and year to date, beating the industry average by 4.7 percentage points in the first seven months and two percentage points in July.

Ford sold 73,300 passenger cars in July, down 9.2% for the month in the Euro 20 mainly due to the Fiesta model changeover, but up 0.6% for the first seven months for the best year to date performance since 2011.

High-series vehicles – including Titanium, Vignale, ST-Line, ST and RS – represented 66% of passenger car sales in the Euro 20 in July, up 7 percentage points from July 2016; year to date high series sales were up 3 percentage points to 64%.

Performance car sales – Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS, Mustang and GT – rose 5% to 26,300 in the Euro 20 in the first half of 2017.

Commercial vehicle market share was 13.3% in the Euro 20 for July, making Ford the top commercial vehicle brand in Europe; its commercial vehicle sales were up 9.6% in the first seven months at 204,700.

Titanium models accounted for 35% of all Ford passenger car sales in the first seven months of the year, and 42% of all sales in July.

Kuga sales were up 24% year to date at 90,800, making this the best-ever year so far for sales since the SUV was launched in 2008. Kuga sales also were up 24% in July to 12,400. Ford's flagship SUV, the Edge, has now sold more than 10,000 units since launch.

Transit van sales were up 10.9% at 133,500 for the year to end of July. Transit family sales in July – at 16,600 – were up 6.6% for the month. Ranger pickup sales at 23,100 for the year so far are up 12.1% and mark the best year for the truck since launch.

Ford KA+ sales were 4,500 in July, and more than 31,000 have been sold since launch.
