California based Fisker said it would make 100 Ocean Extreme Vigyan limited edition electric SUVs for India which is the world’s third largest automotive market and also attracting attention from EV makers Tesla and BYD.

CEO Henrik Fisker said: “India offers exciting opportunities for us.”

India has targeted 30% electrification of its vehicle fleet by 2030. The government has introduced incentives and policies to support EV industry growth which include tax breaks for consumers.

EVs account for only 1% of India’s annual vehicle sales.

The Fisker SUV should be approved for local sale by September this year and will be priced on par with Europe where the Ocean Extreme costs EUR96,950 or INR6.45m.

Deliveries of the limited edition in India are expected to commence in Q4 2023.
