Fiat Brazil’s recall of Palio models with the 1.6-litre, 16-valve engine might
include export models, writes Rogério Louro Alvez.

"We haven’t decided yet, but the recall probably will include Palio and
Palio Weekend models shipped to other countries in South America and Europe,"
a spokesman said.

He added that Fiat Brazil had shipped 3,000 1.6 16V versions of the Palio to
Argentina, 1,700 units to Italy and nearly 1,500 vehicles to other countries.

An earlier report carried by the website http://carsale.uol.com.br.
said that Fiat was calling the owners of Palio 1.6 16V cars made between March
1998 and April 2000 for check-ups and eventual replacement of fuel tubes in
the motor. Tests conducted by the company showed signs of premature wear and
tear in the tubes in extreme usage conditions.
