Citroën do Brasil is recalling 15,086 Xsara Picasso minivans produced in the PSA Peugeot Citroën group plant in Porto Real city, Rio de Janeiro state.

According to the manufacturer, 3,014 2004 model year vehicles could have problems with their rear brake hoses. Faulty installation could lead to the hoses scraping against the shock absorbers and eventually leaking.

Another 12,072 units made in 2003 and 2004, are being recalled to check for a fault in the electronic control system of the throttle valve in the two-litre 16-valve petrol engine. The problem can affect engine performance.

Citroën do Brasil said it was not aware of any accidents caused by the faulty parts.

The Xsara Picasso is the model that inaugurated production in PSA’s Porto Real plant in 2001. The factory now also produces the Peugeot 206 hatchback and Citroën C3 models. At the end of the year the plant will start building the 206 SW compact station wagon.
