The approval means all DRI targets supplied by AB Dynamics are now authorised for official Euro NCAP testing. The portfolio includes pedestrian, motorcycle, bicycle, and vehicle surrogates, alongside a range of Euro NCAP-approved platforms such as the SPT belt-driven platform, LaunchPad VRU systems and GST vehicle platforms.

According to Dr Andrew Pick, business director, track test systems, AB Dynamics, the expansion of Euro NCAP’s 2026 protocols has increased both the scope and complexity of vehicle safety assessments. “The variety of scenarios requires test teams to have an extensive range of test equipment to complete all the assessments. AB Dynamics is the only company that provides everything required for Euro NCAP testing, from the targets and platforms to the driving robots and control software, all from a single supplier designed to work together seamlessly.”

The Soft Pedestrian 360 Child was developed to meet demand for more representative child pedestrian testing. Based on the same modular architecture as the adult version, the target features lightweight components and foam-encased leg servos to reduce the risk of damage to test vehicles.

To enhance realism, DRI used its in-house radar and lidar measurement systems to optimise the target’s reflectivity characteristics. The target also incorporates an age-specific walking gait that is synchronised with its movement, helping it to accurately represent a child pedestrian to modern vehicle sensor systems.

AB Dynamics says its integrated testing ecosystem combines targets, platforms, driving robots and Synchro control software to automate Euro NCAP test procedures, improve efficiency and help test organisations manage increasingly demanding ADAS validation programmes.
