GB Auto is to build a US$13m automotive warehousing and logistics facility near Cairo, Egypt, which it hopes will generate US$8m a year in savings and fees.
Egypt’s biggest listed vehicle assembler will build the facility in Sadat City, 90km northwest of Cairo. It expects the facility to come on line in 12-18 months.
Chief executive Raouf Ghabbour said the bonded facility will allow GB Auto to receive imports of containers as well as completely built-up vehicles as soon as they arrive in Egypt’s ports.
The company manufactures, assembles, imports and distributes vehicles for Bajaj, Hyundai, Mazda , Mitsubishi and Volvo.
